About
To situate myself within my praxis, I am a middle-class Latina immigrant who grew up in Huetar Territory, also known as San José, the most densely populated city in Costa Rica. As a Mestiza, my family background encompasses both Indigenous and European heritage, informing the intersectional lens through which I frame my teaching, educational leadership, research, and community-based work with historically equity-seeking communities. In my work, I employ critical approaches, such as participatory action research (PAR), in combination with arts-based methods, decolonizing pedagogies, and critical media literacies.
